Testimonial from repeat clients for the US who went on a South Africa Kgalgadi Safari. The Kgalagadi is the biggest game park in Suuth Africa, bigger than the Kruger National Park.
Hi Stephen
I haven’t been ignoring you…work has been crazy busy, which is good.
We had a terrific time!!! Definitely recommend the Parker Cottage Bed and Breakfast. It is lovely, the breakfasts are marvelous and the people are accommodating and will help book anything from restaurant reservations to excursions. FYI, a restaurant by the name of Miller’s Thumb is two blocks from there and marvelous!
The drive to Two Rivers is completely paved now!! right to the parking lot at the park check-in building!! Did we HAVE to stay at Two Rivers for two nights? If so, tell folks to definitely bring food to cook as the restaurant is really soso. So is the service. also, have people do self drives, as the group drive is really lame and not worth the money. Ditto for the walking safari.
All went smoothly with the transfer to our driver/guide up to Polentswa…great game viewing, black maned lions right on the side of the road, lots of Gnu, Springbok and we saw two male Red Hartebeasts fighting for herd dominance. The lodge is lovely…it sits on a hillock overlooking the pan. towels, sheets, etc of excellent quality..shower was great and outside overlooking the pan as well.
People were terrific. Were very accommodating to us and took great care of all of our needs. The food was sometimes really good and sometimes really soso. Not sure how I should address that with the manager, Justin. He’s a really great guy who wants to please, but he strikes me as a little sensitive so I want to pick my words carefully. I’m still composing that still.
Our guide was terrific and we are keeping in touch with him. He actually had been working at Kwando in the Delta before taking this job. Rooiputs is also beautiful…ditto on towels, sheets etc. Food was outstanding!! Really outstanding.
The manager at Rooiputs, Martin, is amazing! He makes everything seem effortless and the staff adore him. Our guide from Polentswa drove us to Rooiputs and remained our guide for the remainder of the safari. Lots of great wild life viewing.
I do have pics, but we’re still working through them’ we’ll send you pics of lodges as well as a couple of amazing shots John took of lions, meerkats and various antelope.
I would highly recommend this( Kgalagadi Safari) to people who want a different safari experience…also, they are trying to get the governement to allow them to put in an airstrip…would be amazing to do that area, the central Kalahari and then the Delta.
We are going to the Red’s game, will send more later.
