Africa Safari Sleep out under the Stars
Its one thing to be able to experience the magic of an Africa Safari.
Its another thing to experience it at one of the few places that have a outdoor “sleep under the stars” experience.
The set up is really quaint, with a sense of nature, the sounds of the African bush, and with no city urban light to disturb you,the heavens give you a show of the night sky, that few people ever have the opportunity to experience.
Any of the 3 sleep out locations can be incorporated into your Africa Safari experience. You can request this by specifically requesting that as we develop your trip, that we use the one that you want to go to.

Lion Sands Lodge, Sabi Sands Reserve, Kruger National Park, South Africa.
For those seeking the ultimate immersion experience into the serene, sensory world of the African elephant, Abu Camp now offers the opportunity to sleep out under the stars, in our new Star Bed overlooking the elephant boma.
On request, guests are escorted to the large double bed of the Star Bed after dinner on one night of their stay at Abu Camp. Here, raised high above the ground, they sleep beneath the incredible canopy of stars so iconic of the southern hemisphere, and are lulled to sleep by the contented rumbling and low snores of the elephants below.
The Star Bed offers an opportunity to “sleep with the elephants” found nowhere else in Africa. To ensure complete comfort a bathroom, including an open shower, is found on the tier below the top deck.
Imagine sleeping in a luxury king-size bed on a raised deck in the middle of a game reserve, surrounded by the calls of nocturnal animals, with nothing between you and the brilliant stars of the Kalahari night sky…
Tswalu Kalahari’s newly launched sleepout deck, The Malori (meaning ‘dreamer’ in Tswana), offers guests the unique experience of a safari sleepout on a magnificent 100,000ha five star private game reserve.
The Malori deck boasts a raised platform with a thatched overhang for protection should it rain.
Guests can choose to sleep under the thatch or further along the deck where it is completely open.
Guests wanting to enjoy a unique experience will be able to walk out to our “Sleep Outs” on elevated wooden platforms (weather permitting).
Elevated wooden platforms
This is the only place in the Kruger National Park offering this unusual accommodation.
In keeping with the ethics of “tread lightly on the land”, no trees were cut down in the construction of this camp. No concrete was used – all structures are canvas and wood.
