Zarafa Camp
Zarafa Camp is a luxury Safari camp located in the 320,000-acre Selinda Reserve of northern Botswana.

Zarafa camp is the culmination of many years of Safari experience by the owners,and it shows in it sensitivity to the environment,its design and level of service.
Zarafa Camp is located on an island in the floodplains of the Zibadianja Lagoon.This lagoon is the source of the Savute Channel.
It has been purposefully located in a area of outstanding wildlife and scenery,its remote,private,secluded,and professionally manged.

Camp activities:
By foot, 4×4 open game drive vehicle, and pontoon boat.
The name Zarafa means “the beloved one” or “the lovely one” in Arabic.It comes from the name of a giraffe,given as a gift to Charles X of France in 1826 by the Viceroy of Egypt.
Zarafa Camp inspires all those who come in contact with it.This camp could be the highlite of your Botswana Safari experience.
Zarafa camp has only four large luxury tented suites.These are are raised up on wooden decking and have been located in the shade of old, ancient old growth trees.
There are few places in Botswana as vibrant as the Selinda Reserve.Its focus is on the Selinda Spillway which weaves its way through the Africa bush linking the remote areas of the Okavango Delta with the Linyanti water systems.
The Selinda Reserve is from the Savute Channel and Chobe,so it has the same characteristics of quality wildlife and outstanding scenery with the big additional benefit of being isolated,private and remote.

Zarafa Camp has been designed with privacy and the quite experience of the Africa bush in mind.
Accordingly each tent has been located on the edge of the forest facing the shores of the floodplains,and has been situated far from the next so as to ensure a optimal peaceful experience of the bush.
The luxury tents at Zarafa are simply that..luxurious. 1,000 square foot canvas tents and the three rooms of the tent have been tastefully decorated with specifically custom-made furniture that have been recycled ancient hardwoods.
The raised decks, are recycled African railroad sleepers.

Each tent comes with its own Canon professional camera including a Canon 40D body and 35-135 mm and 100-400mm zoom lenses for use during your Safari stay.Zara camp will then burn a DVD of your photos for to take home with you.

We rise early to join in with the natural world as it goes through another day.We become silent observers of this great experience.
About 8,500 elephants in the Selinbda Reserve have been counted during the dry winter months.These numbers compare with the herds found in Chobe National Park.The elephants love the wate ,and we love watching them.
Zarafa due to its proximity close to water has large pods of hippo and crocodiles and water birds are plentiful.
Selinda Reserve is known for its African wild dogs that have denned near this camp.
The Selinda lions are renowned for hunting hippo.The open plains is perfect habitat for cheetah.Zarafa has leopards as well.
Other common species are buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, hyena, ed lechwe, sable, roan.
Zarafa camps Toyota Land Cruisers have been specially designed provides all-round visibility with removable canvas roofs,and comfortable bucket seats.These durable,4X4 vehicles provide us access to all of the Selinda Reserve’.
Short safari walks from camp are offered .
Late afternoon we depart for our afternoon Safari game drive that continue into nightfall.
LAUNDRY
Laundry is done on a daily basis and is complimentary.
ELECTRICITY
Zarafa Camp is among the only (if not the only) luxury camp in the world to be powered entirely by solar energy. The harnessed solar power is stored in deep cycle batteries, each of which delivers 220v electricity to the camp, 24 hours a day.
A set of universal plug points is available in each tent. It is recommended to bring a spare set of batteries so one set can be charged while the other is out on safari.
