The Outpost lies in the Makuleke Contractual Park,which is a large secluded and remote wilderness area.
The Big 5 Park is about 26 500 hectares and is renowned for its wildlife.This area is most probably the most diverse and scenically diverse and attractive area in all of Kruger National Park.

The Outpost lodge has been constructed in a manner that combines the uses of steel, concrete and open space. It is a very modern design.
The Outpost Lode is a small intimate camp that has only 12 Luxury Suites.They all have stunning views of the spectacular panoramic views of the river and bush below.
2 x daily game drives in an open jeep and walking safaris can be experienced in this secluded,remote and wild area of the Kruger National Park.
This truly is one of a few really wild wilderness areas left in South Africa.The area contains vegetation that is very different to anything else within Kruger National Park.
The large ancient trees in this area are often almost 50% taller than most baobabs, and, scenically, the area is diverse: with stunning mountains, shady, deep gorges, forests of yellow-tinged fever trees, monolith baobabs, mopane woodland, and open savannah grassland.
The scenery ranges from Levuvhu River full with hippos and crocodiles that is shaded by Nyala trees and fever tree forests to the Lanner Gorge,which is a palm-fringed wetlands, with rocky outcrops that has thousand-year-old baobab trees.

The area where the Outpost is located,is a popular winter grazing ground for the migratory elephant that come from Mozambique, Zimbabwe and elsewhere in the Kruger National Park.
Leopards are at home in the thick bush,where they prey on the nyala and impala .that feed close to the river.
The rivers in the area ie the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers at Crooks’ Corner,contains a large population of hippos and crocodiles.
The birding in the whole area is very good, with specialties being the Pel’s fishing-owl, black-throated wattle-eyed, orange-winged pytilia, African crowned eagle and racket-tailed roller.
The Luxury Suites rooms of the Outpost are unique in that 3 walls have been removed. They have been replaced with floor to ceiling electric blinds, that allow for a 180 degree views of the stunningly beautiful Luvuvhu River Valley.
The open feel of the Outposts Luxury suites,creates a comfortable lounge.They each have an and an award-winning bathroom that contains a stone bath and open shower. The views can extend as far as into Mozambique.

CROOKS CORNER
Crook’s Corner, gained its name in the 19th century as the region that was seen as a haven for criminals and poachers who would use the proximity of three countries at the confluence of the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers to escape police by fleeing out of their jurisdiction into an adjoining country.
