At Umngazi, you can wind up the day by enjoying sundowners on a Fish Eagle Sunset cruise or on the deck where one can enjoy the stories of visitors from yesteryear in Basil’s bar.

Bungalow Categories69 bungalows (some interleading) which have been categorized into five different categories namely : Garden, River, Sea, Emlonyeni (River Mouth), Honeymoon Cottages & our exclusive spa suites namely, Ntabeni (meaning on the hillside). Our comfortable bungalows are tastefully decorated, child friendly (expect honeymoon, Emlonyeni & Ntabeni suites) & offer tea/coffee facilities.
Perched on the panoramic hillside of the Umngazi River mouth, overlooking the scenic splendour of the Wild Coast. Bungalows are nestled amongst the kaleidoscopic fauna and flora that only the heart of Pondoland can offer. Our guests choose from 5 categories of bungalows, all of which are individually furnished & tastefully decorated.

With a sprawling lawn laid out in front of the 3 units, this facility is ideal for groups wishing to spend time together alone or those looking for the ultimate in privacy and tranquility.

The units are nestled into the coastal bush at a distance from the main facility (connected by a rustic walkway), to ensure ultimate privacy. The floor-to-ceiling windows and doors offer breathtaking vistas, guaranteed to meet your romantic expectations. Note that we have one double storey honeymoon suite and three single storey honeymoon bungalows.Features include:

Offering 180 degree views of the ocean in luxurious comfort. The suites offer idyllic tranquillity and food for mind and soul..

Don’t leave without trying: Private dinner in the Green Door wine cellar or the Gazebo, the mangrove walk, cycling along the sublime coastline, a romantic picnic on the beach, a snorkel in the rock pools, the spa (which has just received the Les Nouvelles award for the most unique spa concept category);
Bring with you: A pram if you have a child under three, even if you don’t usually use one. Some of the rooms are a bit of a distance from the action and it’s easier to push them up the hill that to carry them.
