The world is divided into six Floral Kingdoms with South Africa having the smallest and most unique Floral Kingdom.
30% of the plants in South Africa’s Cape Floral Region are unique to that region, found nowhere else in the world, with this Cape Floral Region having being named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.
The area extends north and northwest from Cape Town.
At www.go2southafrica.com we custom design wild flower tours all the way up to Namaqualand, generally regarded as the heart of this spectacular natural occurrence.
This area blends into a unique agricultural desert green belt with vineyards, smaller village rural towns, creating a green belt in this semi arid area that has the distinction of being the worlds 2nd largest grape cooperative.
Within this greater area is a very unique Africa safari game park that is well worth visiting along with Kruger National Park or Botswana.
Generally the South Africa wildflowers season runs from mid August to mid September, however this varies year to year generally impacted mainly by rain fall patterns, and locally by the wind and cloudy days .
