Offering something for everyone it is ideal for swimming and has a selection of shops and restaurants in walking distance. Over the summer holidays there are a variety of activities and events for all ages.

It is also where a multitude of marine activities launch from including boating adventures, scuba-diving and kayaking where you can encounter incredible marine wildlife from whales to dolphins, seals and marine birds.

Close to the rocks is ‘The Wedge’ where surfers and body-boarders are constantly seen riding the waves.

Robberg Beach is a pristine Blue Flag beach which stretches for over four kilometres all the way to Robberg Nature Reserve. It is ideal for long, leisurely walks where the local school of dolphins can regularly be seen frolicking in the waves.

Pack a picnic and spend a day at one of the designated swimming spots at Robberg Beach where you can rent umbrellas and deck chairs. While away the day reading a good book, watching the waves and swimming.

The stretch of beach along the shores of the Keurbooms Lagoon is an ideal place for families as the gentle, shallow waters are perfect for children to play beach games, swim and build sandcastles.

Take a long walk along the shores of Keurbooms Beach which stretches for miles and is often mostly deserted, or find a spot on the dunes for sun-downers watching the sea change into a kaleidoscope of shifting colours as the sun sets.

Nature’s Valley Beach in the heart of the Tsitsikamma National Park has remained unspoiled and is almost overwhelming in its beauty.

This National Park is the third most visited in South Africa and one of the largest Marine Protected areas in the world! Don’t forget to stop at the Nature’s Valley restaurant for tea and take a picture with the boots hanging in the tree, left behind by hikers of the Otter Trail.

No matter what your idea is for the perfect beach holiday, Plettenberg Bay offers something for everyone!

About Peter

Peter’s approach to food is simple, “If it is not the best it can be, it doesn’t belong on the menu!” It is an approach which he stakes his reputation on every day, and one that has garnered him with many (enviable) awards and accolades over the years.

This approach to cooking is expected and evident in each of the 6 restaurants of Liz McGrath’s Collection which Peter oversees.

Be it the elegant gastronomic Greenhouse, or the simplistically precise Seafood restaurant at The Marine, perfection is the ultimate goal that Peter’s food aspires to.

Many great chefs have had an influence in Peter’s style, from his beginnings with Marco Pierre-White and Giorgio Locatelli to Joel Robuchon, Anne-Sophie Pic and Daniel Humm of Late.

The Collection’s flagship restaurant – The Greenhouse – has become a place where modern cuisine comes together with the rich tapestry of South African ingredients and flavours.

A melting pot of ideas and concepts, it is a place revered by many as one of the leading restaurants in the country.

Realizing the importance of our delicate planet and all its inhabitants, Peter is continually striving to achieve a balance between sustainability and culinary uniqueness through ecological awareness and sustainable product development.

A mission which has seen the development of a myriad of unique and amazing dishes using less glamorous fish and seafood; dishes which are guaranteed to bring guiltless dining pleasure to all guests of The Greenhouse and The Collection by Liz McGrath.

Whether relaxing by the pool, taking a walk on Robberg Beach, enjoying the activities on Central Beach or discovering the unspoilt splendour of Nature’s Valley you are so spoilt for choice in Plettenberg Bay.

The pristine beaches and breath-taking views of Plettenberg Bay gives it the well-deserved reputation as the ‘Jewel of the Garden Route’ and South Africa’s premier beach destination.
